The methodology of response to COVID-19 that will be followed will consist in contracting a Local Medical Coordinator who will provide technical assistance to 18 health workers in the 6 beneficiary health centres and 18 Community Health Workers (CHWs) through training sessions (6 for health workers and 6 for CHWs) at the beneficiary centres respecting safety distances and with the obligation for participants to wear the mask. To verify the impact of the training and awareness raising activities, pre- and post-activity evaluations will be carried out involving participants and beneficiaries. Sanitary materials will also be distributed. Synergies will be realized with the ongoing project in Wau funded by AICS that will make available to this initiative the training materials used for the training sessions on COVID-19 at Comboni Hospital in Wau, as well as the list of local suppliers of Comboni Hospital to facilitate and speed up the process of procurement of personal protective equipment and hygienic-sanitary material.
Objective
Strengthen 6 peripheral health centres in Western Bahr el Ghazal and local communities, with particular attention to the most vulnerable groups, in the management of the COVID-19 emergency.
Activities
- Support to the staff of the health centres of Bussere, Korgana, Besselia, Bringi, Taban and Sopo.
- Supply of personal protective equipment and hygienic-sanitary material.
- Community-wide dissemination and awareness on prevention procedures and hygiene standards.
