LOCATION

Ambanja, Madagascar

Objective

Improving access to maternal and neonatal health services in the city of Ambanja through community action and a telemedicine system with interventions aimed at building a supportive environment for pregnant women and their newborns

Activities

  • Use of the PANDA telemedicine programme to carry out quality pre and postnatal visits
  • Maternal and child visits supervised by midwives defining frequency of follow-up and mapping pregnancies by area, time and risk
  • Introduction in the PANDA app of an innovative rapid test for blood group determination to identify and treat Rhesus negative women, in order to avoid the onset of haemolytic disease of the newborn in subsequent pregnancies
  • Sharing of collected data with the community to inform and participate in the effectiveness of public health measures
