Objective
- Improving women’s reproductive health and neonatal health by promoting better quality integrated health services at territorial (Health Centre) and specialist (Hospital) levels, through training of health personnel and scientific and methodological support to applied research.
- Contributing to the improvement of the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women and children from 0 to 5 years, through the strengthening of territorial primary health services and interventions carried out by community-based associations
Activities
- Continuous training for health staff of community-based health centres in maternal and child health and in paediatric nutrition in the Red Sea, Kassala and Khartoum States
- Training of community workers dedicated to information on good nutritional practices, with particular attention to the breastfeeding and weaning phases in the Red Sea, Kassala and Khartoum States
- Carrying out studies and research on best practices, providing a learning platform and disseminating applied good practices
- Development of monitoring mechanisms and referral system in obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatal and nutrition in the three states
- Technical assistance and training of midwives at PHC and hospital level in the states of Red Sea, Kassala and Khartoum
- Support for the operation of neonatology in Kassala hospital
- Technical assistance for civil works: Assessment and definition of rehabilitation interventions and health supplies and technical assistance for civil works in Port Sudan
- Implementation of infrastructural interventions and supply of equipment at the Teaching Obstetric in Port Sudan
- Design and implementation of awareness-raising campaigns and promotion of community-based approaches in the three states
- Provision of materials and distribution of resources (Food for Assets – FFA) aimed at improving nutritional intake and sanitation in communities
